Photon-IV has been awarded a $250,000 contract through Canada’s Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program, recognizing the company’s advanced R&D in defense-grade satellite and terrestrial network orchestration.
About the IDEaS Program
The IDEaS program is administered by the Department of National Defence and supports Canadian innovators developing solutions to defence and security challenges. It connects innovators with defence problems to develop Canadian-made solutions that could be adopted by the Canadian Armed Forces.
What Photon-IV Is Building
The contract funds continued development of Photon-IV’s AI-driven NTN-TN handover technology under its Stellarlink platform. This work focuses on ensuring persistent command, control, and communications (C3) for Canadian Armed Forces operating in contested and austere environments including the Arctic.
Significance for Canadian Defence
This award validates Photon-IV’s approach to sovereign technology development — building defence-grade connectivity solutions in Canada, for Canada and allied partners. The IDEaS recognition positions Photon-IV as a key contributor to Canada’s defence innovation ecosystem.
